Flip has just released a new version of the Flip MinoHD.  Here are the differences from the last model:

Memory increased from 4GB to 8GB HDMI output, instead of composite, to hook up to your TV and watch in HD TV connection cable must now be purchased separately LCD screen increased from 1.5" diagonal to 2" diagonal (to 960x240 pixels from 528x132) Newest Flip Video Engine 3.5 (firmware which renders improved video) Fixed focus changed from 1.5m to infinity to 0.8m Weight increased from 3.3 oz to 4.1 oz Brushed metal front Soft, rounded edges

The new version has an MSRP of $229. It appears that, at least for the time being, the 1st generation Flip MinoHD will continue to be sold with an MSRP of $199.

The second generation Flip MinoHD has specs that are more closely aligned to the Flip UltraHD than to the first generation Flip MinoHD.  The differences:

• internal memory in all Minos, replaceable battery in all Ultras
• 2 hours battery life for MinoHD vs. 2.5 hours for UltraHD
• 4.1 oz for MinoHD vs. 6 oz for UltraHD
• The Ultra is about a quarter inch wider and taller, and half an inch thicker than the Mino
• The Minos are 'designable' and the Ultras aren't

It's kind of interesting product strategy, to say the least.  What it emphasizes, to me, is that being able to put the thing comfortably in your pocket is of signficant value to a sizeable chunk of camcorder buyers, and that is the value that launched the Flip in the first place.
