FlipShare Upgraded to 4.5
Pure Digital Technologies has provided an upgrade to their FlipShare video editing software to Version 4.5. The new version, which provides a number of new features and improvements, is available here:
Assuming your computer meets the minimum requirements, fill in your name and email address and click the button that's right for your operating system. Having downloaded the file, double-click it to install the new version.
Once you have installed the software on your computer, plug your Flip into a USB port, and you will see a dialog notifying you that the software on your camcorder will be upgraded. Click "OK" and you're done.
New Features
- The most interesting new feature Flip has introduced is Flip Channels, which give you a way to share your videos with your friends and family. You can upload your videos to an online server - FlipShare.com -- and provide the email addresses of those with whom you would like to share that channel's videos. You can even create different named channels, and share them with different people. When you add new items, the addressees get an email.
All of your channels show up in your FlipShare user interface, and their online representation is a simplified approximation of FlipShare.

- The user interface for capturing snapshots has been improved, so that you're able to see thumbnails of six frames before and six frames after the position of the read head and pick out the one you want:

- You can now move your video library location from the system drive to, say, another drive with more space, or a location in common with other videos.
- You can import files into your library from other locations. On a Windows system, you can import AVI, MP4, WMV, and JPG files, whether or not they were originally created with your Flip camcorder.
All in all, this is a very worthwhile set of improvements.
