Get the DVD out the door, move on to new things...
I'm trying to finish up a DVD today called "Secrets of the Flip HD Camcorders." I've done a lot of talking about making DVD's and now it's time to do it. I'm hoping you might think it's a good holiday gift to pair up with a new Flip HD camcorder, so I'm pushing to get it out the door ASAP.
And, hey, on this one you actually get to see my face. Now, there's a treat, right?
On the other side of this DVD, there are lots of fun new things to do. I'm going into the shop to try to come up with a good 'steadycam' kind of device for the Flip. This is a stabilizer that uses gravity and inertia to keep camera movement fluid while you're on the move -- even while you're climbing stairs. In fact, it was first made famous by a scene from Rocky I, where he's running up the state house steps, and the cameraman was doing the same.
This will be members-only content, because of the research and experimentation required. I want this to be a Do-It-Yourself project that doesn't require you to be a master machinist. The device has to be small and light enough to go in your backpack, use inexpensive parts, and be relatively easy to make. Those are the engineering challenges.
We also have FlipShare 5.0 coming soon, and FlipShare TV, which actually involves a new hardware device that plays the video that you have in your computer in FlipShare on your TV -- with no physical connection between TV and computer.
Meanwhile, I'll keep Tweeting and Facebooking and writing and answering questions, so do stay tuned.
