Attach your Flip Mino-HD to something that moves
Flip camcorders are small. They can go places where other camcorders can't. Flip camcorders are cheap. You might take risks with them you wouldn't take with a more expensive camcorder.
So what different views of the world can you get by attaching your Flip to something that moves?
Not a bad way to give directions to Uncle John's house: Strap your Flip to the moonroof of your car, as aanaravs did in this video.
Are you holding the camera or attaching it to your car?
Long ago, someone decided it would be interesting for police cars to have video cameras attached to the dash. Here's the consumer version.
Unfortunately for Jarod, his brand new Toyota Matrix wasn't the only thing moving when he took it out for its maiden voyage. He got close and personal with a deer that crossed his path. Maybe this will be useful for the insurance claim?
No idea... Creative use of duct tape?
"Andrew and Dad" had a pretty good time riding a Baja Warrior mini-motorcycle through the mud, and captured it all on their Flip Mino-HD by taping it to Dad's helmet. In this case it was a motorcycle helmet, but it could as easily have been a ski helmet, and parachuting helmet, a skateboard helmet, etc.
Flip advertises something called a "Flip Video Flip Action Mount," and Amazon used to sell it. It claims to allow you to attach your flip to helmets, handlebars, and other things, but I notice that there are some complaints about it not working well. At this point, I can't find anyone who sells it. Even Pure Digital Technologies (Flip manufacturer) has taken it off their site.
If you can find some duct tape that doesn't leave a residue on your Flip... well, duct tape is the answer to all the world's problems, idn't it?
Cory Williams had an idea not so different from the rocket cam: attach a Flip to some helium balloons. He has some ideas to make it better:
- Use a higher resolution HD model of Flip.
- More balloons
- Remote location
A meteorologist added, "the movie will be more steady if you don't do this in the middle of the day, when thermals cause turbulence. It may be better to do this within one hour after sunrise or within an hour before sunset."
I have another suggestion for better video, Cory... Remember the guy who tied all those balloons to a folding chair? He was well set (so to speak) to take great video. As I recall, he took along a BB gun to pop the balloons one at a time to get back down.

It's going to be tough to top this one. nws06223 is into model rockets. He strapped is Flip Mino-HD to a Groove Tube rocket. It was saved by a parachute.
