Flip Camcorders
This spot is for discussion of all Flip camcorders.
Do you have a video demonstration about the basic functions of the buttons?
If you're talking about the buttons on the camcorder itself, all the models work pretty much the same way as the Flip MinoHD, and I talk about how they work at about 1:54 into this video: http://flipinfocus.com/video/overview-flip-minohd.
The differences between the models relate to whether all the buttons are real buttons (i.e., on the UltraHD), or some are merely touch-sensitive spots (the MinoHD models). Also, the buttons don't light up on the UltraHD, under any circumstances. But the functions of the buttons are the same.
I'm a new Flip 'convert' and still a little confused over all the models available. I went for a Flip Ultra HD because it seems to have better specs than the Mino HD. However, I've just been reading about a '2nd Generation Mino HD' which seems to match the Ultra HD on video specs at least. Is this available in the UK yet? Amazon and other British sites only seem to list the Mino HD.
Yes, there is a 2nd generation Flip MinoHD. It has specs nearly identical to the UltraHD, but it doesn't have a user-replaceable battery, and it costs more.
This video gives a detailed comparison of all three models, complete with comparison of their specs, and side-by-side comparison of their video quality: Overview: The 2nd Generation Flip MinoHD

This video by iwarner22 calls out the primary differences between the Flip Mino HD and the newer Flip Ultra HD:
Internal, rechargeable
$192.66
Iwarner22 likes the matte finish of the Ultra better, because it doesn't pick up scratches or smudges like the Mino. He also thinks that the larger, brighter LCD screen of the Ultra makes a significant difference in use.
So... bigger screen, doubled memory, HDMI output, replaceable battery... Why is the Ultra HD cheaper than the Mino HD? (The prices shown above are Amazon's prices for the two cameras, as I write this. We'll have to see if the Mino becomes cheaper, over time.)
I know that there are some people who think the Mino fits in your pocket comfortably, and the Ultra not so comfortably. That simple difference may determine whether someone buys this kind of camera or a larger camera, say, with removeable SD memory. It's also true that the Mino is customizable, if you buy it from Flip's online store, but that adds to the expense. Still, it may make the difference for some.
