mp3 audio conversion

What is the experience of others with respect to MP3 audio conversion  . For example does Roxio convert audio sucessfully from files in the ITunes folder so that you can use your own audio and music ?

.mp3 audio conversion

I haven't owned Roxio in several years, but I have successfully used Audacity, which is free, to convert audio to/from the .mp3 format. It does work with iTunes files (.m4a) files, if you download and install ffmpeg for Audacity.
