Even a short video, such as a spoof you're producing for YouTube, will benefit from some up-front planning. Exploring ideas for shots and sequences in a storyboard can make the difference between a good video and a great video.

Do you agree?

What are some of the things you do when you're planning to make a video?

Do you think a Flip is too cheap a camcorder to make a good movie with? Well, let's see...

  1. Flip Mino-HD and Flip Ultra-HD camcorders shoot in 720p HD format.  The quality is certainly good enough.
  2. Both of the above-mentioned Flips have a tripod-mount, so you can shoot smooth pans.
  3. You can edit your video with free software editors (see, for example Chapter 4: Editing with Windows Movie Maker) as well as any professional editor to trim, add transitions, add effects, add titles, etc.)
  4. You can do professional lighting, and still stay within a budget on par with the cost of your camera.  Watch the videos and read the articles in this section.

So, there's nothing stopping you from telling a compelling story.

We'll give you a free storyboard form to plan your shots, right here.
